I would like to take the time to introduce myself. My name is Kristina Gaetano. I am a Fourth Grade Social Studies teacher and the Fifth Grade Social Studies and Language Arts teacher at Thomas Edison Energy Smart Charter School for the 2014-2015 school year.
I went to college in State College, Pennsylvania at The Pennsylvania State University and graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. Following graduation, I lived in central Pennsylvania where I did substitute teaching. I held two long term substitute positions in 6th grade teaching Language Arts and Social Studies.
In August of 2013, I accepted a position at C2 Education as a Program Director in New Jersey. As Director, I managed the center and completed academic plans for my students. From these experiences, I was able to obtain classroom management skills and time management skills.
Prior to moving to New Jersey, I lived in Houston, Texas for about a year. It was a diverse city and I learned so much from the experience. I lived with my older brother who still resides there with his wife, Safia. My older sister joined me in New Jersey after my move here as well, where she teaches high school students.
My brother, sister, and I grew up in a small town in Northeast Pennsylvania, called Mountain Top. My mother still lives in my hometown today.
My father lives in central Pennsylvania, near where I had most of my teaching experiences. He has been a tremendous inspiration to me and my decision to become a teacher. He taught for over 30 years, prior to his current position as a middle school principal. His teaching methods and connections with his students have impacted me since I was a child.
When I am not in the classroom, you can find me at the beach! I love going to the beach no matter what time of the year it is. I also like to cook, bake, run outside, and explore new places.
If there is anything else about me that you would like to know, please contact me.
I’m looking forward to an exciting year! :)
